SPOILER WARNING!

| “ | Oh my, Ozen has made yet another one cry. | ” |
—Zapo | ||
Zapo (ザポ) is a Moon Whistle Delver and a member of Ozen's delver squad, the Subterranean Bandits.[1] He is also an observer for Delvers who are undergoing survival training at the edge of the Abyss.[2]
He was tasked with surveying Riko and Reg's progress while they were training under Ozen.[2]
Appearance[]
Zapo wears goggles and has white hair with a white terraced beard. He is clad in a dark blue coat with a hood and wears a Moon Whistle around his neck underneath.[3]
Personality[]
From his brief appearances, he seems to be kind-hearted and friendly. He is loyal to Ozen and appears to care greatly for Marulk, as seen when he disobeys Ozen's direct orders at the child's tearful request.[1] He has a keen mind and a sharp eye, being able to pick out Riko and Reg's habits simply by observing them during their training.[4]
Due to his age, he holds more experience than his fellow Delvers. As such, he has a broader depth of information and is able to identify things others may not have any knowledge of. He thus has an in-depth knowledge of The Abyss and is able to teach future generations about the art of delving, due to the fact that he is a Moon Whistle.[5]
History[]
Pre-Orth Arc[]
After Yelme had managed to steal objects out of Cravagli's pocket, he notes that Tepaste had a really keen eye and that Cravagli didn't give him much room to work with, which caused him to only be able to steal a few scraps. Zapo notes Cravagli to be a genius solo delver, as he picks up a note Yelme managed to steal. Neither Simred nor Yelme can make sense of the note, reading "Faraway Nest," a phrase that Zapo is surprised to learn that they had never heard.[6]
Seeker Camp Arc[]
Marulk goes to get Zapo and the other Subterranean Bandits during the fight between Ozen and Reg, in the hopes that they can help to stop them.[1]
After Reg regains consciousness, Zapo and the other Subterranean Bandits inform him of what happened after he passed out and that Ozen was only testing them to judge if Riko and Reg are ready to hold their own in the next layers.[7]
During Riko and Reg's training, Zapo and the other Subterranean Bandits keep an eye on them and report their progress to Ozen.[2]
When Reg and Riko leave the Seeker Camp, he sees them off with the other Bandits.[8]
Abilities[]
Observation Skills[]
During Riko and Reg's training, he was able to observe them without them noticing or sensing his presence.[2]
Trivia[]
- Zapo is the oldest member of the Subterranean Bandits.[3]
