The Yomotsubi (ヨモツビ) is a creature featured in Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness.[1]
Description[]
Yomotsubi are large insects who vibrate their wings to chirp and their timbere is comforting. The edges of their wings are partially metal, so the chirping also sounds somewhat metallic.[1]
Their wings have three layers with holes in them, which shoot gusts of wind as a means of attack.[1]
Technically, Yomotsubi don't attack with the wind itself, but it scrapes their wings together and shoot the metal shavings at the opponents with air stored in their abdomen.[2]
They spreads their wings while projecting air to not only generate metal, but also to detect the wind direction and make it easier to hit their prey. Although Yomotsubi are known for the sparks they emit when scraping off their metal shavings, the wings grow thinner over time, so it's quite rare to see sparks from one that attacks Delvers.[2]
Although Yomotsubi are unable to fly, they are protected with a powerful exoskeleton as if to compensate. The exoskeleton around the abdomen is relatively thin due to the metallic wings, but if the wings are damaged, they lose their method of attack and defense.[2]
