The Tachikanata (タチカナタ) is a creature featured in Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness.[1]
Description[]
The head and arms of the Tachikanata are similar shapes, and their mouth open and close like a pincer. This causes them to appear as though they have three heads. They are covered with a shell and fins, making them extremely sturdy.[1]
They have an azure subspecies and an ancestor subspecies with the latter having pincers on its back that can clamp down hard, creating a shockwave over a wide area. They hunt using this shockwave to knock out prey. However, their most dangerous feature is the shockwave that comes from both their pincers. Its power is said to even sever the sky.[2]
As expected from their appearance, they are delicious. While their head is the hardest part of their body, their lower portion is not covered by shell, exposing their soft parts. The aftershocks from their pincer on their backs can cause concussions.[2]
