The Sun Sphere (
In the manga, Riko found one in the 1st Layer, stashing it away while she was at Belchero Orphanage.[2] In the anime, Riko collects one from a large pile of them in the 2nd Layer.[3]
Description[]
The Sun Sphere is shaped like an egg with a round structure in its center and encasements at the top and bottom covering its exterior glass-like structure.[4]
Upon activation, it emits a bright light.[1]
Riko and Reg have used a Sun Sphere to distract creatures and enable an escape.[1][5] Their Sun Sphere was later eaten by an unknown creature, outside of Ido Front.[5]
Marulk shows Riko the Artifacts collected at the Seeker Camp, including a Sun Sphere, noting that Artifacts collected in lower layers tend to have more complex shapes.[6]
Trivia[]
- The Sun Sphere is, alongside the Cradle of Desire, the Princess Bosom and the Thousand-Men Pins, one of the few Artifacts known to exist multiple times.[2]
- In Made in Abyss Binary Star Falling into Darkness, Sun Spheres are available from the 1st Layer to the 5th Layer. The Sun Sphere most prominently featured in the main series is featured as the Sun Sphere of the 4th Layer, in the game.[7] The different designs are based on those seen in the Seeker Camp.[4][8]
