The Pupa-carrier (ヤドカカエ, Yadokakae) is a creature featured in Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness.[1]

Breathing in their scales causes hallucinations and therefore caution must be exercised as the more you chase after a Pupa-carrier, the more scales accumulate in your body. The rarer subspecies of Pupa-carriers scatters powder with blue poison as it flies which makes catching them even more difficult.[2]
The pupa is extremely tough and heavy. When in danger, Pupa-carriers will discard the pupa to fly at a high speed. However, once a Pupa-carrier discards its pupa, it will shrivel up and lose its shine.[2]
As such, if one wants to take a sample of a Pupa-carrier, it must be captured together with its pupa.[2]
Their scales, in small quantities, can be used as a spice and smell somewhat like cinnamon.[2]
