How Are You? Somewhere 5 - Riko is the fifth side-story chapter of the Made in Abyss manga series.
Synopsis[]
Prior to the events of the main story, Riko is writing notes, with her Star Compass in hand. She exclaims to Nat, Shiggy, and Kiyui that the Compass is airtight, not leaking any air while submerged in water.
In an attempt to break its seal, she strikes it with a rock, causing the Compass to bounce down a hill. Riko frantically pursues, asking for her friends to help her. The gang notices that their superior, Jiruo, is nearby. They notice Hablog with Jiruo, and are reminded that the two Delvers had a meeting to attend to.
Further down the hill, Shiggy notices an unfamiliar Black Whistle Delver pick up the Artifact. The Black Whistle examines the Compass, exclaiming that it "looks like the real thing!". Recalling the consequences of stealing Artifacts, Shiggy explains that he was only retrieving the relic for a clumsy woman that had dropped it.
Riko and Nat watch the scene unfold, and the Black Whistle hands the Compass to Shiggy. Shiggy asks the man just what the relic is used for. It's a "peephole", but he replies that he doesn't know how to use it. He then explains that it's a relic's nature to be found at certain times, especially that one.
The Black Whistle acknowledges its fated return to a particular woman, before realizing that he is at risk of losing his meal reservation. The man bids Shiggy a farewell and the children regroup.
