How Are You? Somewhere 1 - Reg is the first side-story chapter of the Made in Abyss manga series.
Synopsis[]
7 years prior to the main story, Mio visits Orth from overseas and expresses her awe of The Abyss. While walking through town, she met a 5-year-old Riko and her pet dog, Reg. Noting how big Reg was, she wishes for the dog to protect her.
During her second visit to Orth, 7 years later, she again sees Riko and Reg, but is surprised to see Reg, the boy. Finding amusement in this, she once again wishes for Reg to protect her, just as she did all those years ago.

- Reg appears still wearing the Bell (Chapter 4).
Trivia[]
- The notice board in this chapter talks about another failed attempt at using an Airship to enter The Abyss. It is possible this attempt was the one that led to the crash in which Marulk was involved, since it took place in the 2nd Layer and probably around the same time.[1]
