Danger Zone Within the Maelstrom - Part 2 is the sixty-ninth chapter of the Made in Abyss manga series.
Synopsis[]
Yataramar grapples underneath the cliffside, securing pitons as he moves. Srajo explains Yataramar's ability to Riko, noting that it is similar to an Artifact. One that is quite useful, despite not being a high grade. Riko and Reg discuss whether to use the Incinerator, noting the extreme emergency. It is decided that Nanachi must be secured first. Srajo advises Sherumi & Menae to keep their face shields up.
Yataramar finally comes into proximity with the monstrous appendage squeezing on Nanachi. He notices blood dripping from the body, which Reg had felt dripping down his hand. Yataramar works to affix Nanachi and the appendage to the cliffside. He coordinates with Riko and Reg to separate the appendage without causing too much tension in the arm, which could cause Nanachi to be struck by The Curse of the Abyss.
With a powerful blow infused with poison, he crushes the arm of the Mysterious Beast, but it's still not enough to free their companion. Yataramar relays Nanachi's condition to the Delvers, explaining that Nanachi is unconscious, being secured by terrifying claws. In shock, he witnesses Faputa chewing on the beast, innocently. Up on the cliff, Srajo asks Sherumi & Menae if they are ready, using her White Whistle to "release" them.
Faputa once again finds herself with the rest of the team, while a mirage of multiple colossal beasts encircles the Delvers. While the twins are still unsure about using their ability on the creature, Nishagora blocks a strike from hitting them and Srajo. The twins finally concentrate and suddenly, the beast's arm that's holding onto Nanachi begins to sever. Srajo praises the twins. Using her firearm, she completes the arm's dismemberment, causing the creature to retreat.
With the area secured, the teams regroup. Yataramar inspects Nanachi, witnessing grievous wounds all across their body, legs twisted completely around.
