Danger Zone Within the Maelstrom - Part 1 is the sixty-eighth chapter of the Made in Abyss manga series.
Synopsis[]
The story continues with Reg attempting to secure Nanachi from the Mysterious Beast that ambushed Hello Abyss and Hail Hex. Reg braces, while Nishagora and Tepaste fasten him to a stable rock formation.
Srajo inspects Sherumi & Menae for any injuries. She pulls out a gun-like relic and fires it into the haze, exposing the assailing beast. Faputa is able to locate Nanachi, underneath the cliff on which the Delvers stand, and departs. Srajo releases Yataramar with her White Whistle, causing him to morph sludge-y features all through his body. He follows Faputa's lead under the side of the cliff. Meanwhile, Reg worriedly tells Riko that he can feel liquid running down the arm that is holding onto Nanachi.
Faputa locates Nanachi, but is shocked by the sudden appearance of Yataramar. Riko coordinates with him via a Communication Device. The beast attacks, but Yataramar deftly avoids taking a hit while also drawing closer to Nanachi. He wonders about the massive creature's ability to manipulate sensations, noting that smaller creatures are known to do the same. Meanwhile, Faputa attacks the beast directly.
