Made in Abyss: Awakening Mystery (tentative) (メイドインアビス目覚 (めざ) める神秘 (しんぴ) , Meido in Abisu Mezameru Shinpi) is the first movie in an upcoming series of animated films that follow the events of Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun.^[2]^[1] The number of movies in the series has not been revealed.

Returning members of production confirmed include director Masayuki Kojima, scriptwriter Hideyuki Kurata, as well as character designers Kazuchika Kise and Kuroda Yuka.^[3]
