The Abyss Tribe was a society of humans that lived at the entrance of The Abyss during the days of Ganja. Irumyuui was a member of this tribe before being exiled.

Much like modern Orth, their culture was heavily influenced by The Abyss, even using the Beyond Glyphs found in The Abyss as the basis of their language.

The tribe had legends describing the residents of the Golden City as having patterns on their body. When a member of the tribe comes of age, their body would marked with Beyond Glyphs to imitate the inhabitants of the "Golden City". These Beyond Glyphs represented the respective roles of the individual tribe member. Members that were judged as "insufficient", due to being infertile, would be marked with "ink of sacrifice" and exiled into The Abyss.

At some point after Ganja had travelled to The Abyss, evidence of this tribe's existence seemingly vanished, as there is no mention of them in the history of Orth's founding.

Trivia

• Before Ganja came to The Abyss, the tribe had bad experiences with prior travelers. Those who were violent and domineering making them reluctant to share information.
• According to Irumyuui, fertility is very highly valued in her tribe and as such once she was examined and found to be infertile, she was judged to be a cursed child of the giant pit must be returned to the pit.
• The language spoken by the native tribe of the Abyss has some resemblances to places Belaf had traveled to, so he finds it relatively easy to understand.
• The Beyond Glyph the Abyss tribe uses for "Great Pit" is more complex than the Nether Glyph used for "Abyss" in Riko's day and age. As is the Beyond Glyph on Irumyuui's back.
• The people on the island may have tried to apply their own sounds to the ancient alphabet found on the island.
